Reclaiming Spiral Dance Ritual

This year’s Reclaiming Samhain ritual will take place at 7:30 pm on Friday November 2nd at 5145 Boul. St-Laurent, just north of Laurier (doors open at 7pm). This location is at street-level and is accessible for the mobilty impaired.

The ritual will be modelled after last year’s ritual coordinated by Alex and friends, which used the framework of the popular San Francisco Reclaiming Community’s Spiral Dance Samhain ritual, now in its 28th year.

Two key parts of this ritual are the creation of community altars to honour the dead, and the naming of our deceased as well our newly-born in the past year.

If you’d like to create an altar at the ritual (for example to honour fallen soldiers, victims of AIDS, deceased pets, ancestors, etc), please email reclaiming(at)cosmic-muse.com before October 31st. Please arrive at 6:30 pm on November 2nd to set up your altar so that it is ready when participants start to gather at 7pm.

If you’d like the names of your deceased read out during the ritual, please email reclaiming(at)cosmic-muse.com before November 1st. There will also be an opportunity to add to the list just prior to the ritual itself. Please also write the name phonetically so we can make sure to that it is pronounced properly. You do not need to attend the ritual to add a name to the list of deceased that we will be honouring at the ritual.

Finally, please bring a thoughtful snack or beverage to share following the ritual, As well as your own plate and 'chalice' (cup). This is an alcohol-free event. If you have a few dollars to spare, there is a suggested donation of $2-$5 to help cover the cost of renting the location.
